From April 10th to 12th, the biannual national conference ‘Tackling Trafficking in Human Beings: Prevention, Protection, Prosecution and Partnership' took place in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary at the Abbey Court Hotel.
The three day event was hosted by An Garda Síochána's Human Trafficking Investigation and Co-ordination Unit (HTICU) and supported by IOM Ireland. A total of 75 individuals from various organisations attended, including Gardaí from across the country, members of the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Services' ‘Border Management Unit’, the Garda National Immigration Bureau and the Garda Interpol office. Also in attendance were two representatives from the Dochas-Female Prison.
Alongside the Human Trafficking Investigation and Co-ordination unit and IOM Ireland speakers included members of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, the Immigrant Council of Ireland, Ruhama, Migrant Rights Centre Ireland, Akidwa, Tusla, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit within the HSE, and the Workplace Relations Commission.
